World AIDS Day Candlelight Vigil

Stop AIDS. Keep the Promise

5pm to 8pm

 

This candlelight vigil held on world AIDS Day is done in memory of all those who have died of AIDS and in support of those living with HIV/AIDS.

 

Please come out and show your support by carrying a lighted candle. Preventive material will be distributed free. Listen to speeches by local government officials and members of the HIV/AIDS community. An address by H.E. Ambassador Cyrille S. Oguin of the Republic of Benin, representing the continent hardest hit by HIV/AIDS. Songs and music.

 

Some 25 million men, women and children have died, 40 million more are now infected and the plague is still expanding and Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for 73% (25.8 Million) of the people living with HIV

This event, reports on the Foundations most recent trip to Cameroon and Togo and gives an inside look at the devastation caused HIV/AIDS on the lives of women and children. It would also double as a fundraiser to help support orphanages in these countries.

In light of this, the leadership team at The Foundation has chosen to launch the Foundation on this World AIDS Day whose theme Stigma and Discrimination is an important human right for people both infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

In collaboration with the group “Jazz for Peace,” (www.jazzforpeace.org) featuring renowned Jazz vocalist Rick DellaRatta,who has been recognized worldwide as “one of the single most significant cultural events of our time” and has led to a benefit concert series that raised funds and awareness for over 300 non-profit organizations the Foundation is having a seminar on AIDS in Africa.
